Creativity is all around us through art, literary work, and yes, even winemaking When I first moved to Knoxville a few years ago, I missed the artistic avenues available in my hometown of Des Moines. I quickly discovered you don’t have to be in a big city to find artists working on their craft in rural areas. My husband, Mike, and I are blessed to have a beautiful location open to the public where we can host local talent. We both deeply believe that artistic endeavors should be supported and nurtured and can bring joy to the recipient. That’s why we started the Art & Author’s Showcase. This is a second annual exhibit, the first one was downtown Knoxville at the Nearwood Winery Tasting Room in 2017. The following year was skipped due to the moving of the Tasting Room to the new location at 1699 Hwy 14, but we plan to continue it on an annual basis. Each artist or author has provided a selection of their work for the show. Some are for sale. This is a unique blend of talent not seen anywhere else. The items in the show are original and handcrafted. Where else can you go in the area to view art, read books and drink wine? Residents, tourists, and guests are invited to visit us and see what your friends, neighbors and Iowans are creating. The showcase runs Aug 1-16, 2019. Hours are Wed-Sun, open at 11am - 6pm, Thursdays until 8pm and Friday until 9pm.
