Getting married? Consider a Micro Wedding

Forget the 200 people you planned to invite to your nuptials. The fear of large weddings becoming COVID-19 super-spreaders have caused many couples to postpone or even cancel their ceremony and/or reception.

The micro wedding is a new trend that started last year in response to the pandemic and now has caught on. Smaller celebrations allow couples to enjoy the start of their marriage by reassessing and scaling back on the ceremony and in many ways enjoying the experience more. Micro weddings offer a more personal, intimate experience with fewer guests. Non-traditional outdoor locations may offer more options for venues.

A recent article in The New York Times points to the trend toward micro weddings. (See “The Tiny Wedding of Your Dreams 2021,” by Abby Ellin, Jan. 14, 2021).The article offers insight about the advantages of micro weddings.

The Times article explains a few major advantages of smaller weddings such as the following ideas: Don’t feel like you have to invite everyone you know. Limiting the guest list will save money because you’re not paying for everyone else’s experience. You have greater freedom to tailor your special day into what you really want. Small weddings are good for the psyche because of the reduced stress of planning something big and complex. Relinquishing control of every detail invites revising expectations to fit with reality. You can modify situations spontaneously and actually enjoy yourself.

If you are considering an outdoor wedding and/or reception this year, please contact us for a tour and/or more information. Our winery property is a perfect location for an event with a guest list of 20 or fewer. We have a large, scenic outdoor area between the woods and the vineyard with a wooden platform, electric, optional party tent and plenty of parking. There is seating and 2 large bathrooms inside the winery. Our wine can be served and enjoyed on the property. Contact us via email or on Facebook messenger.
