 Grape processing Aug. 2019 It has been practically one year at our location on Hwy 14. Mike and I moved into the new house in June and the winery was built but not open yet to the public. We had to wait for our liquor permit, so the official open date was Aug. 22, 2018, just a couple weeks after Nationals. That meant we missed the sales opportunities that event brought to Knoxville. This year however, we had some experience under our belt and knew how to operate and promote the business in this updated location. Most visitors found us using GPS location services which makes me happy that my Search Engine Optimization seems to be working. Others saw our website, social media or the print ad we had in the Journal Express. A lot of people googled “Wineries near me” and if they were in the vicinity, our location popped up #1. The winery was also found by a gentleman from New York that sponsors race car drivers. He arranged a private breakfast at the winery on Thursday morning of Nationals week and invited some racing fans and influencers.  Bob and Roxie, visitors for Nationals We also welcomed guests from Pennsylvania into our home for the week as part of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce’s lodging match program. Bob and Roxie were very gracious, and expressed gratitude for finding us. They are the first guests we’ve had for Nationals and want to return next year. Bob especially liked that they were only 3 miles from the track and he could easily drive back and forth to town without having to travel far. Roxie liked our scenic location and our chats on the winery patio. She enjoyed the Art & Authors showcase of local talent and bought a book to read while she was here and on her travel home.
Nationals time was hectic but full of fun meeting people from all over, near and far. We’re looking forward to next year. Thank you to all that visited and spread the word about us.
