We still have a few weeks of winter left before we can all emerge for outdoor activity. If you’re suffering from the late winter doldrums, here are some suggestions for indoor entertainment.

#6
Watch a performance (or perform yourself) on our stage
Our indoor stage is perfect for presentations of all kinds. Storytellers, acoustic music makers, or Power Point/Video presenters have a cozy venue to express your art. Contact us to arrange a day and time. Bring your friends and add to the audience.

#5
Eat a savory meal on Sundays for only $5
Every Sunday is SAVORY SUNDAY! We make a homemade meal to enjoy at the winery or to take home. Pair with your favorite wine. Snacks, beer and pop also available. Reservations for groups over six required.

 #4
Read from a selection of Iowa author books

Nearwood Winery is home to the Marion County Writer’s Workshop. Some of our members are published authors and have their books for sale at our location. Feel free to browse / read the selections.

#3
Play virtual reality games on our Occulus Quest

Try out our VR headset and experience games that surround you in 3-D. Your friends can watch what the player experiences from a Googlecast viewed on the TV. Games include Beat Sabor (fast-paced game of skill), Dance Central (dance at the club), VR Kart Sprint (race car), Ultrawings (flying around tropical islands). Great fun!

#2
Find your inner artist with painting or craft class

We offer a variety of art and crafting classes led by instructors that show you how to make it. Supplies included, classes vary. Visit our Facebook page or website for upcoming events.

#1 Enjoy a tasting of a variety of our wines by bottle or glass
The best thing to do at our winery is drink wine! We make wine from Iowa grown grapes, usually from our own vineyard. Enjoy dry to sweet, red or white - something for everyone’s taste. Tastings allow you to try 5 different wines so you know which ones you like best.
