Our first Valentine’s Day together we planned a road trip from Iowa to Denver for a long weekend. Mike wanted me to meet some relatives there and visit wineries along the way. We had only been dating a few months and were just learning about each other. I was new to the winery business and didn’t know much about wine, much less the industry.
There’s something unexplainable about wine that embodies fun, friendship, romance and connection. Each winery we visited along the way had its own story, atmosphere and product. Every tasting presented us with a new experience and flavor that we could explore and discuss. Mike showed me how to hold the glass, swirl the wine, then stick your nose in and take a deep inhale. He explained to me about color and bouquet and how to describe it. Sometimes we had the good fortune to meet the owner or winemaker and he or she would explain a particular process or grape blend used in the bottle we selected. It was a time filled with learning, adventure and most of all, our blossoming love. The conversation about wine and life adventure is ongoing today as Mike and I near our first wedding anniversary. Mike and I hope you and your sweetheart or pals can visit us this month made for Valentines. Check out our Events page and calendar. Remember, don’t say you don’t know what to get her for Valentine’s Day…you know where the winery is don’t ya?
